Bob DiPiero reveals the story behind “Blue Clear Sky” about the idea of the song. Bob says: “I went to see the movie” Forrest Gump. “Halfway through the movie, Forest has a dialogue in which he is talking about his girlfriend, Jenny, the dialogue was something like that …
“Jenny was gone, then, suddenly, out of the clear blue sky, she was back.”
Well, of course it is the other way around. The real term is “out of the clear blue sky,” but it caught my attention. The next day I was writing with John Jarrard and Mark D. Sanders. I told them about this idea backwards and wrote “Blue Clear Sky” about how love seems inscrutable and then, out of nowhere, you find it ”
George really has an innate ease and elegance, for to sing the songs, practically everything he sings reaches number one, Blue Clear Sky, was his twenty-ninth number one.
George Strait – Blue Clear Sky Lyrics
You swear you’ve had enough, you’re ready to give up
On that little lie they call love, then out of the blue clear sky
Fallin’ right into your hands, like rain on the desert sand
It’s the last thing you had planned out of the blue clear sky.
Here she comes a walkin’ talkin’ true love
Sayin’ I been lookin’ for you love
Surprise your new love has arrived
Out of the blue clear sky.
Ain’t love a funny thing, one day you’re givin’ up the dream
And the next you’re pickin’ out a ring out of the blue clear sky.
