About Hoyt Axton:

Hoyt is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and actor, who made himself, starting his career, in West coast, california, in the folk circuit, that’s why it is difficult (not impossible) to find Hoyt in compilations of country music, it is more linked in the folk rock style, but its roots are country, and with really country songs, its style could be said to be country-folk-rock. Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, son of Mae Boren Axton, composer and writer of country music, and co-writer of the famous Elvis song, Heart Break Hotel (1956). Mae’s songs were also sung by: Faron Young, Conway Twitty, Floyd Tillman, Patsy Cline, Hank Snow ….. So it already comes from family.

About the song Boney fingers:

Song written by Hoyt Axton & Renee Armand, recorded, in August of 1974, for the A & M Records label, in Santa Monica, California. And produced by, Allan McDougall & Hoyt Axton. The song was included in the album, “Life Machine 1974 (A & M Records)” and also included in the compilation, “Road Songs 1977 (A & M Records)”.

The song of “Boney Fingers”, is an ode, to the hardness of the day to day of the working class, working so hard, and wearing their hands to the bone, so that? …. Boney fingers has undoubtedly been one of the best successes of Hoyt, if not the highest, came to the lists of country music hits to number 8.

Hoyt Axton – Boney Fingers Lyrics

See the rain comin’ down and the roof won’t hold ‘er
Lost my job and I feel a little older
Car won’t run and our love’s grown colder
But maybe things’ll get a little better, in the mornin’
Maybe things’ll get a little better.

Oh! the clothes need washin’ and the fire won’t start
Kids all cryin’ and you’re breakin’ my heart
Whole darn place is fallin’ apart
Maybe things’ll get a little better, in the mornin’
Maybe things’ll get a little better.

Refrain:
Work your fingers to the bone – whadda ya get?
( Whoo-whoo ) Boney Fingers – Boney Fing-gers.

Yea! I’ve been broke as long as I remember
Get a little money and I gotta run and spend ‘er
When I try to save it, pretty woman come and take it
Sayin’ maybe things’ll get a little better, in the mornin’
Maybe things’ll get a little better.

Refrain:

Yea! the grass won’t grow and the sun’s too hot
The whole darn world is goin’ to pot
Might as well like it ’cause you’re all that I’ve got
But, maybe things’ll get a little better, in the mornin’
Maybe things’ll get a little better.
