A Place to Land
The very talented Kristyn Harris has just released another enjoyable new CD. This 12 track album includes some wonderful Western Swing and Western sounds with very talented musicians and the spotlight on the beautiful voice of Kristyn. She also plays rhythm guitar (as does Jason Roberts.)
The album features the lead guitars of Rich O’Brien, Rick McRae and Jason Roberts, super steel guitar by Eddie Rivers and Jason again doing fiddling as are Brook Deaton and Hailey Sandoz. Andrew Griffith is the album drummer, Floyd Domino, Paul Nyul and Roland Elbert-piano and Jon Stutler plays saxophone. Hailey Sandoz, Dusty Deaton and Devon Dawson do harmony vocals and Nathan Phelps plays upright bass.
Kristyn opens the album with her original Western Swing composition, Place to Land and then follows with the first of her own compositions, The Mule Song. She also wrote Musician Standard Time, Trail of the Wind and also co-wrote with Randy Huston Old Soul. Michael Martin Murphey originally wrote and recorded Wildfire and also included is the Bob Wills western swing sound of Roly Poly from the Fred Rose pen. Kristyn also brings back the western classic Along the Navajo Trail and the beautiful American classic, America the Beautiful. The final three tunes are Cows Around, the Western and Western Swing gem, Stuart Hamblen’s Texas Plains and the Arlen/Harburg pop standard, Somewher Over the Rainbow.
